2012-13 Shows That Got The Ax

Fall 2012 Television Shows Cancellations

Ah the Fall TV Schedule is out and there are some shows that I am sooooooo happy to see gone and some that has me yelling out in protest. Let’s start with the good news, that is the shows that I know longer have to be tormented with.

Jersey Shore
Let the trumpet sound and the bells ring Jersey Shore has finally been cancelled, it’s as if Christmas has come in early for me.  This trashy show with its outrageous characters that somehow became a cult phenomenon is about to pump its final fist pump. After the next up and coming season Jersey will be no more. Word on the street is that the shows characters got “Rich and Switch” as we say here in the Bahamas.  Demands for higher pay grades and the dip in last season’s rating and Snooki being preggers have brought the end to this reality show.  The date for the airing of the final season is schedule to premier October 4th but many of us could careless, goodbye and good riddance.

The Big C
I guess it turns out that C was actually for Cancel. After only 3 seasons Showtime is giving the axe to this humorous drama about Cathy (lead character) dealing with her cancer dilemma. I have to honestly say that the show had a good concept and the first season was a hilarious look on someone dealing with that condition but seasons 2 & 3 weren’t all that hot on the comical or dramatic side.  I honestly fell asleep while watching the last few episodes so I am not surprise to see that it’s being cancelled. Season 4 will be its final run and it is scheduled to air sometime in 2013 to wrap it all up. I doubt I will be a viewer of that.

The Secret Circle (TSC)
Oh many folks were rooting for this show. Some thought it was a good Charms replacement but I predicted early in the shows season that TSC would have been cancelled. I have to say I loved, loved, loved the concept of the show but with all the magic, love triangles, family drama and action scenes the show couldn’t keep the spice going throughout the last season.  I feel like the writers never allowed some of the storylines between the characters to fully develop. When the show creator moved away from the Jack and Cassie romantic relationship to Adam Cassie the show got boring.  The contain pressure to reveal the family secretes was an over kill. Yes, yes we did want to know but we also would have rather seen the characters grow with their gifts and with each other.  The show had great ideas but it needed to flow better than it did which was in my view the cause for the decrease in ratings. Word on the street is that the show’s creator tried shopping the show around to other networks such as ABC Family, MTV or Netflix so there may be light at the end of the tunnel for TRSC fans.  I would watch the show if it moves to another network but I just hope the creator and writers learnt from their mistakes and revive the show well. Nevertheless, we will see what happens if the show isn’t picked up by summer 2013 its sad to say but TSC will disappear forever.

So Victorious
Say it aight so Nick Cannon why won’t you do something; were my thoughts when I heard this bad news. The beloved So Victorious is about to sing its last awesome tune.  The up and coming season will be its final curtain call for this dynamic cast.  After three amazing seasons the Nickelodeon network is pulling the plug and will not be renewing the show for a 4th season but fear not there is 15 episodes left in season 3 and the show will get a proper send off.

The Office
I don’t even have to say much on this matter after Michael (Steven Carell) left the show the countdown to cancellation began but hey it was a hell of a ride. I will truly enjoy the 9th and final season, “That what she said”.

GCB
This is what happens when you base your entire show about making fun of Christians you get the boot LOL. But seriously I can’t deny I watched every episode of the show and it was funny. I didn’t see anything wrong with it. The show was keeping it real with their storyline because there are many Christians today that are going through those same issues.  In my eyes GCB made only one mistake and that was signing on to ABC. What they should have done was go on Fox heaven knows they would have still been in business right now.

The Ringer
This was a great show but sadly it couldn’t pick up in ratings.  I loved the idea of the adult dangerous version of ABC Family’s The Lying Game.  To me this show did everything right they just had the wrong audience a show like this is not suited for the CW.  It would have been more successful on USA, Syfy Channel or ABC. Better yet, it should have made for a killer movie.

Weeds
Weeds has to be one of the best television dramas created by Showtime. I have been a fan since it aired back in 2005 and throughout the years this show never disappointed me. I can’t complain this show had a good run of 8 seasons and on September 16th 2012 the shows finale will air. If you have never seen an episode I recommend that you do so quickly, it has a lot of laughs and I promise you will get no spoilers from me.

Facebook Romance Status

Facebook Love

Just about everyone on the planet has a facebook account and one of the main things you would encounter when scrolling your facebook news feeds is the hook ups, break ups and make ups of your network friends.  I always find it a bit annoying when people bring their personal business to the social network with their relationship status drama.

If you and your significant other is having a show down and the foundation of your relationship is questionably shaking, keep it to yourself. Don’t change your relationship status every time you have a fight or break up. Simply just remove the relationship status option from your profile until you get your act together and for goodness sake don’t get mad when people commitment on your status.  If you did not want anyone to comment on it don’t put that information out there.

Don’t be like any of these examples and if you have please don’t do it again.

Before I close out on this post I just want to talk about the use of the “It’s Complicated” status.  If you and your boo aight clicking do not put this as your status, it will only add wood to the fire and trust that the one on the receiving end of this will blow a top when they see your new update.
If you are interested in someone and “It’s Complicated” is their status beware because here is what it can mean.

1.         I want to break up but I can’t bring myself to do it
2.         I am seeing my ex but we aren’t official
3.         I am hooking up with a person but we haven’t DTR (Define the relationship) yet
4.         I have baby mama/daddy drama
5.         I am seeing multiple persons
6.         I am separated from my wife/husband but not divorced

Whatever category they may fall under it is a whole lot of drama and you are to stay away until they get emotional stable. Persons with this status are most likely to lead a person on, cause you stress or break your heart.

This is a major red flag and that's how Heather Luv See's It.

Going to India "Awesomeness"

Going to India "Awesomeness"

I am traveling to India in September on a mission trip and I am pretty excited for what God is going to do during my visit. In preparation for my journey I decided to do some research on Indian etiquette and custom to avoid being a fish out of water and I found some interesting things that I felt like sharing on my blog. Here are some fun facts I learnt.

India is a country with four major religions originated, and many Indian people take their religion very, very seriously. So travelers especially females are not to wear shorts, revealing clothing and it’s crucial to keep their shoulders and the lower part of your body covered when visiting a site of religious importance. Also when entering some ones home or a temple you are expected take off your shoes and leave them outside. This is because feet are consider dirty in India and it is an insult to step on some ones important items with your feet if you do you have to apologize at once. It is also an insult to point you feet directly at a person or to point you finger or hand at anything.

Speaking of the use of your hands the left hand is customarily used for cleaning oneself after defecation, so Indian people never eat with their left hands. Also you most never pass anything with you left hand. Doing this with money or a gift is a slap in the face. It is also good to know that Indians eat with their hands and the right hand is what you would use to eat.  Note to self, while I am in India my left hand is no longer functional lol.

Indians are very friendly and social people so expect that you would be questioned about your own lifestyle quite rigorously. One of the first questions you would be asked is your marital status. Unmarried woman like myself in their 20’s are shown pity. That’s culture for you lol.   You will also be very likely be asked about your family, your position in life, even your salary. It is impolite to get offended, since this curiosity works both ways, and an Indian known to be very happy to answer your questions about their culture and personal life.

P.D.A between men and women is considered impolite or even offensive. Yet it is quite common to see Indian men embracing or holding hand this is a sign of friendship. When in public it is impolite to whistle this custom I am totally down for because not everyone is a good whistler.

There are a lot more customs to follow but I only selected the ones I jumped on to me. Stay toned for the after visit post and photos,

How Not To Ask Me On A Date

So I declined a date request from a guy this weekend and got ragged on from one of my girlfriends for it. She was like, “sweet girl are you nuts that brother is fine with a good job and his own car”. Truth be told those qualities won’t seal the deal for me because I am a career woman with my own vehicle and I know that I am beautifully and wonderful made (S/O to Yahweh for the amazing handy work). What really impresses me is a real gentleman, but sadly it as though the act of shivery is lost these days.  This experience led me to want to post my date request no, no’s.

Here Is How Not To Ask Me Out On A Date.

1.            Do not ask me out via text message, instant message, email, facebook etc. Yes I get it, we live in an age where our smart phones are like a third hand extension but is it not just as easy to use that same phone to dial me up and say, “Hey would like to go out Friday night”.  Even if I do accept your electronic invitation know that you just bought yourself a one way ticket to the Friend Zone because there is nothing romantic about that.

2.            Do not send one of your boys to ask me out on your behalf because that is so high school. A guy with no courage and confidence goes in the REJECTION pile.

3.            Do not say these words, “Would you like to hook up on Friday”. Hook up? When I hear those words, bootie call comes to mind and that my friend is an instant REJECTION.

4.            The consent use of Rasta/Bobo Shanti grammar is a no, no especially when you are not a Bobo or a Rasta. For example “What you saying Empress, truin de I dem been watching your sweetness for a long time still, why don’t you let a serious man like mah self take you out”. For goodness sake use the proper or basic english language please, a lil slang is cool but if that is your entire vocabulary we have a problem REJECTION.

5.            Don’t be a pervert undressing me with your eyes and comment on my body and how sexy you think I am while you’re in the processing of asking me out. It makes me feel cheap and that all you want is a one night stand REJECTION.

6.            Don’t try to trick me into a date by talking about an event and how awesome it would be and when I say, “That sounds fun”. You say, “Cool it’s a date then”.  If you trying to swing me so early in the game I only could image what other tricks you have up your sleeve REJECTION.

7.            Don’t use any cheese cliché line or musical lyrics to ask me out it makes me feel like your fake. I like a guy that can be himself. Simplicity and originality is always the best way to go.

And That’s how Heather Luv See’s It.

#1 Dots
Dots is high on my list because it carries the latest fashion trends with a variety of styles. They have Chic, Boho, Preppy, Sophisticated, Glam, Classic and Couture looks. Some great aspects of Dots is that they carry sizes from 0-24, with affordable prices where you can get tops as low as $6. An add bounce to that is that Dots also restock their stores with new trends every two weeks “Whooot”.  There are about 400 stores in the U.S personally, I shop at the outlets in Fort Lauderdale and there are several Dots outlets there you can choose from. My only pet-peeve with Dots is that you can’t shop online L and its honestly where I do most of my shopping so I hope an online option for Dots becomes available someday.

#2 Debs
Debs is my online best keeps secret, you get awesome styles for any body type carrying sizes from 0-24.  This store has outlets are all over the US and it has an online shopping option which has a special sale area with prices slashed down to $4. Along with the hot tops and dress it has a killer shoe selection that is to die for and everything is at a stellar prices.

I am a woman of curves and Lane Bryant is a wonderful store for the latest fashion for the plus size Diva. I can’t deny it is a bit pricey BUT during sale times you will get the deals you are looking for.  My favorite item is the Lane Bryant bras I would say they carry some of the best bra brands of top quality and with a variety of styles. This store also has the online shopping option for those that can’t hope on a flight over to the U.S.

#5 Old Navy
Anyone that doesn’t have an Old Navy item somewhere in their closet has sadly been missing out.  It is my casual and winter wear paradise and I love that it always has a sale going on.  I go there to get all my tank tops and T’s and fun casual outfits. At my last visit to Old Navy I spent about $50 and I got 12 item of clothing and I would have gotten more if I didn’t splurge on a cute pear of Bermuda Shorts.

There you have it my Top 5 and that’s how Heather Luv See’s It.  So what are you waiting for, go get shopping already.

Happy Independence Bahamas

Happy IndependencBahamas

The Bahamas is celebrating 39 years of being One People United In Love And Service and this time of year is the best day of the Summer for all Bahamians.  Most of us Bahamians will be celebrating the holidays out at Independence Park where there will be live Bahamian entertainment, the police gun salute and fireworks.  While the rest of us will be spending time with our friends and family on the beach eating some juicy Bahamian food, drinking gully wash and picking coco plump.

Well, I am looking forward to July 10th because I can’t wait to rock my black, blue and gold and hit the beach, then end my evening out West where I can get the best conch fritters on the island.

How will you be celebrating the holidays? Let me know by posting it in the comments.

Show me a flag wave if you ready for the Holidays Bahamas J

Call Me Maybe (Carly Rae Jepsen) Billboards No. 1 Song

The Summer Song of 2012

Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” has climbed its way to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Charts.  With its popularity and catchy hook I guess it’s safe to say that this is the fun Summer song of 2012.  I first heard this song back in April and the annoying pop tune was stuck in my head for two weeks. But I can’t deny it’s a fun playful hook and unlike many of the smut that is being produced and played on the airwaves at lease with this song you can actually listen to without cringing within.  If you are a fan of the Soup (on E!) like I am, you would have known that this song as gone viral and there are tons of remakes of  the video with celebs, athletes, cheerleaders and even beauty queens.  Out of  all of the remakes my favorite has to be the video with Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ashley Tisdale and some of the guys from Big Time Rush.  It’s a fun bubbly video just like the song, they did a great job.

I think it’s fair to say that a new Pop Princess has just been crown. You have won me over Carly I am liking this song (singing) “Hey I just met you and this is crazy but here’s my number so call me maybe.” LOLJ
And That’s How Heather Luv See’s It J

Windows Live Messenger Awesome Upgrade

Out With The Old And In With The New

I am loving the new Windows Live Messenger it has saved me the trouble of having to open multiple tabs on my desktop.  With the new features on Messenger I can check my email, check the news, play all msn games, web search and I can log into Linked-in and facebook (FB).  The upgrade allows me to view my facebook feeds, photos of friends, comment on status and chat with my FB friends.  My favorite thing about the upgrade is that all of my FB friends and MSN messenger friends are in one chat location.  Also whenever one of my FB contact logs in I am alerted through the Windows Live Messenger pop-up contact alert, which is awesome.  As a matter of fact I was just able to hit up my aunt a moment ago who I never could catch online.  This alert feature combined with facebook is the boss.  So if you are like me and need an easy hub for all of your internet needs this upgrade is for you.

(Plot and Summary as stated on http://www.comingsoon.net)

     1.   Sparkle (August 17th)
I watched the original on HBO when I was a teenager and I fell in love with this movie instantly. Hence why it’s my No. 1 must see.  It didn’t take me longer than a day before I learnt ever song and was singing them everywhere I went. This movie has glamour, drama and the type of soulful singing that would make you cry.  With this talented new cast I know the remake will not disappoint.

3.  The Amazing Spider-man (July 3rd)
I can’t lie I was one of the first person on the Hate on “The Amazing Spiderman film” train.  This was due to the fact that the last few films of that franchise weren’t all that hot and I really did want to start all over and go through it again.  My mind quickly changed when I was informed by a friend (S/O Rouen) that the awesome Marc Webb was directing then had a charge of heart and knew this movie would be hit.  The trailer for this film only affirms the awesomeness that is Marc Webb and the special effects looks like it’s going to be mind blowing.

I have been a fan of vampire movies for a long time (all expect for the blasphemy known as Twilight) and this film has two movie elements I enjoy. This film is definitely DVD Blue Ray worthy and I shall be adding it to my collection.

Emmet Walsh, Lois Smith, Common.

    10.  Rock Of Ages (In Theaters)
I have already seen this film and honestly I have mixed reviews about it.  Though the cast music ability was Awesome and there were some funny moments I must admit I felt like something was missing to make it the EPIC film it had the potential to be. But throughout the entire movie I was singing along to all the classics and that was the best part of the experience.  I recommend when going to see this movie take a group of your friends and start a sing along in the theater trust me it would be a blast.
·      Plot Summary: "Rock of Ages" tells the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock 'n' roll romance is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake, and more. Starring: Julianne Hough, Diego Boneta, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Malin Akerman, Mary J.
